We are currently seeking a Site Security Manager reporting directly to Security Manager to join our team based in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

About the role:

In this pivotal role, you'll be at the heart of project operations, where your expertise in physical security, risk, and project management will not only be valued, but will be instrumental in steering our project towards success. You'll have the opportunity to work on a rewarding, but challenging construction project, applying innovative solutions to protect our people, property, and reputation against all forms of risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.

Your responsibilities will include security risk management on/off-site, crafting, updating, and implementing security plans, policies, and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and managing security incidents effectively. Whilst collaborating with various departments and teams to ensure a secure and resilient working environment. Your role will be critical in fostering a culture of security awareness across the construction project.

Main accountabilities:
  • Provide security subject matter expertise to the project, Operating Center leaders, and project managers.
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with project managers and client representatives.
  • Review and constantly update the site and regional security risk assessments.
  • Review and update the site security plan, worksite surroundings, expatriates accommodation, and transportation for project staff.
  • Monitor and control implementation of meet and greet protocols, and secure transportation to/from the construction site and/or accommodation to prevailing security conditions, risks, and threats.
  • Conduct security awareness training; notably the site security induction, and topic specific security training.
  • Identify and report project security key performance indicators (KPI) on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Manage response to security incidents and ensure proper classification, notification, investigation, and reporting.
  • Keep project management and staff informed on relevant security threats and risks through security alerts and advisories with the approval of the Project Director, and the Houston Operating Center / Americas Security Manager.
  • Manage private Security Provider(s):
    • Regularly control the quality of execution through KPIs
    • Audit post orders, procedures, performance, and compliance.
  • Monitor and control the site access control and all security electronic systems, and procedures.
  • Review, update, and implement project security documentation as per client requirements.
  • Review, update, and lead the emergency response plan, and training initiatives.
  • Support Global Security when required on company-wide initiatives and other programs and projects as relevant.

Qualification: Bachelors degree or comparable work experience. Security credentials are a plus.

Languages: Fluent in English (verbal and written skills).

Experience:
  • 10+ years security/incident management experience in a high-risk location, or 10+ years security management experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Construction or Petrochemical / Refinery experience.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS).
  • Knowledge of duty of care best practices in support of travelers to high-risk countries.
  • Experience in recommending and implementing security technology; including CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and monitoring systems.
  • Experience conducting security risk assessments and making mitigation recommendations.
  • Knowledge and experience with industry and local regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in formulating, implementing, and critically reviewing security plans.

Soft Skills and Competences:
  • IT Proficient (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Relevant professional certification (PSP; CPP; other).
  • Good understanding of the local and regional risks.
  • Customer relationship, management skills, and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Capacity to work in a team with cross-functional expertise.
  • Ability to take strategy into action, execute and drive for results and successful completion.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems in rapidly changing circumstances and under pressure.
  • Good leadership skills, and ability to lead in challenging circumstances.
  • Strong financial/business understanding and acumen to speak the language of the business and report on performance in ways that are meaningful.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive matters.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Capacity to innovate and to propose new technologies, new security solutions, and best practices.
  • Ability to remain calm during crisis situations and to lead the team during extreme conditions.
