Power Generation :

Power Generation Unit supplies power for the needs of Karbala refinery, depot and river water intake.

The Power Network is connected to National Electric Network (NEN) to allow power import/export.

Power plant consists of four trains. Each each train is composed of one Gas Turbine Generator GTG (model Siemens SGT-800), one Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HSRG), one Steam Turbine Generator (STG) and one Steam Turbine Condenser Package, each sized for 50MW electric power output at rated site condition.

Candidate shall have large expertise and experience to be able to provide advisory and consultancy to site team in operating Siemens brand, Dual Fuel Liquid/Gas GTG.

 

Steam Boilers

It comprises Boiler Feed Water, steam generation and distribution, for Karbala Refinery.

The Utility boilers produce HP Steam and MP and LP Steam are produced by Letdown stations. The Produced Steam and BFW are distributed to the entire Refinery.

Candidate shall have large expertise and experience to be able to provide advisory and consultancy to site team in operating boiler feed water and steam generation.

 

Water Handling

It covers :

  • Waste Water Treatment Unit :

Divided into two main sections

    • First section includes all the equipment required to remove the pollutants and obtain treated water with characteristics in compliance with the contractual requirements and Iraqi local environmental regulations
    • Second section treats water from first section (avoiding discharge to Euphrate river) through three Reverse Osmosis Package and crystallizer for recycle and reuse in the Raw Water Treatment Unit.

The Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWT) is integrated with all the process units and with the related utilities and offsite of the Refinery and Depot originating the various polluted aqueous effluents. These streams are collected into the WWT by means of oily sewers (initial gravity lines and then pressure lines after intermediate pumping stations) and pressure pipes.

  • Raw Water Treatment Unit

Raw water treatment system starts at raw water connection with raw water pipeline from river Euphrates intake and ends at demineralized water storage tank and pumps. The Unit shall treat the water from Euphrates River to produce the required industrial waters (Demineralized water, Water make-up to Cooling Tower, Service water, Fire water make-up, Drinking water, Irrigation water)

The candidate shall have large expertise and experience to be able to provide advisory and consultancy to site team in operating WWT Units and RWT Units.

 

Energy services

This encompass a range of activities and systems designed to ensure efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy supply and management.

  • Energy Management System (EMS) : To monitor, control, and optimize energy consumption within the refinery, reducing energy costs, improving efficiency, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
  • Energy Distribution : Efficient distribution systems are crucial for delivering electricity, steam, and other utilities to various parts of the refinery. This includes managing electrical grids, steam pipelines, and fuel distribution networks

The candidate shall have large expertise and experience to be able to provide advisory and consultancy to site team in managing energy in a refinery including power generation, steam generation, EMS and distribution.
