Job Title: I&E Technician – Eagle Ford
Location: Eagle Ford, South Texas (potentially covering a large area)
Rotation: Likely 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (TBD)
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable I&E Technician with a growth mindset who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on, field-based work environment. The successful candidate will work within the Eagle Ford business unit, maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, automation, and communication infrastructure, including:
  • RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA systems
  • Gas and liquid metering transducers and transmitters
  • Well site radios and backhaul systems
This role involves systematic maintenance practices to track and eliminate recurring failures. The technician will collaborate with engineering teams to upgrade existing systems for improved reliability and enhanced capabilities. Additionally, they will work with IT and application teams to design, obtain approval for, and implement new RTUs, data collection tools, and control software.
Essential Experience:
  • 8 years of experience in instrumentation, control, automation, and electrical maintenance/project commissioning within the oil & gas industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Modicon, SCADAPack).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with PowerBI or other data visualization/analytical tools.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and driven to implement change.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
Essential Education:
  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Instrumentation/Automation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic and pneumatic instruments, control systems, and medium/low voltage components.
  • Maintain multiple platforms of PLCs and SCADA systems, including Allen Bradley Control Logix, Modicon, and other control/measurement devices.
  • Supervise contract operations as needed for maintenance and operations.
  • Optimize production while ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Accurately enter data into computer-based preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Execute I&E corrective activities within the Eagle Ford business unit.
  • Perform modifications per engineering specifications approved through the Management of Change (MOC) process and complete Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
  • Work within established Work Management System (WMS) prioritization guidelines.
  • Promote a culture of operating discipline and quality assurance.
  • Participate in investigations and apply lessons learned for project-specific improvements.
  • Manage project spending in alignment with cost targets.
  • Ensure adherence to control of work (COW) and task risk assessment requirements.
  • Share knowledge with co-workers and contribute to company goals and objectives.
Technical Skills & Experience Required:
  • Experience in programming and troubleshooting RTUs.
  • Knowledge of radio systems (serial and Ethernet), including programming and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding and troubleshooting of:
    • Solar charging systems, batteries, and power management
    • Analog and digital I/O systems
    • Multi-Variable Transmitters (MVTs) and control valves
    • Wireless communication equipment
    • PLCs and HMIs (Allen Bradley, Modicon, SCADAPack)
    • Antennas, coaxial systems, wiring, and calibration of transmitters
    • SCADA-related computer programs
  • Working knowledge of wellsite operations preferred.
Pre-Requisite Requirements:
  • 4 Wheel Drive Truck with Tools: A 4WD truck with appropriate tools is required for this position.
  • PPE Requirements:
    • FR Clothing (long shirt and pants)
    • 4-Gas Monitor
    • Hard Hat
    • Safety GlassesGloves

  • BYOD (Bring Your Own Device): This position requires candidates to supply their own laptop, as the company does not provide one.
Allowances:
  • In-Field Mileage: Paid at the IRS rate for mileage incurred while working in the field. Mileage is calculated from the first work location of the day to the last location before heading home. The exception is for callouts—mileage begins from the house when leaving for a callout.
Pre-Requisite Trainings for This Position you must have prior to starting:
  • OSHA – H2S
  • OSHA – Hazwoper Training (8-Hour Course)
  • OSHA – First Aid / CPR
  • OSHA – Benzene Awareness
