Duration: approx. 6 months
This role exists to supervise the work of Mechanical Technicians and Assistant, to ensure they perform their work with a high level of technical competence and in accordance with HSE standards. The role holder ensures planning and support for maintenance of the offshore mechanical and rotating equipment, in line with the overall maintenance objectives, planning, budget and the MMS, and in liaison with the offshore Mechanical Technicians, in order to maximize the equipment reliability and availability and to reduce replacement costs, in compliance with applicable legislative requirements, existing procedures and standards, including HSE and competence assurance.
Role Deliverables and Responsibilities
Work programme
Plan and prepare maintenance work programs for planned and unplanned maintenance. Conduct initial risk assessment. Complete work scope documents, material specifications for offshore mechanical and rotating equipment, and permits to work, so that the offshore mechanical technicians have the relevant information to execute the work safely and efficiently.
Fabric Maintenance
Ensure physical plant and facilities are maintained to provide a safe working environment and protect the environment. Ensure planned and unplanned maintenance, activities are executed to high quality standards. Provide related support to offshore personnel, in order to maintain or improve the condition of the facilities and prolong useful life.
Budget Preparation and Control
Prepare and manage the budget for the specific area of expertise, supporting the Maintenance Manager in the annual budget cycle. Monitor, analyze and report on expenditure against budget and report variance against budget in order to give management insight and support decision-making.
Maintenance Planning
Manage the maintenance planning for preventive and remedial offshore mechanical and rotating equipment. Prioritize planned and unplanned activities, requisition and scheduling of vendors and materials in cooperation with the GMA asset team and scheduling of personnel according to capacity, to ensure an efficient time schedule and execution of work. Agree planning with Maintenance Manager, in accordance with the overall maintenance planning and budget.
Technical Maintenance Standards
Implement best practice maintenance procedures and techniques and set technical standards of own area of expertise, in conjunction with Maintenance Manager. Monitor implementation; ensure compliance, so that mechanical personnel can work according to consistent standards, in line with relevant industry norms and standards as well as government rules and regulations, including HSE. Keep abreast of developments on mechanical and rotating equipment maintenance techniques and methods and share these within offshore mechanical maintenance team. Update operations manuals and communicate updates as required.

Key Technical Skills and Competencies
- Significant experience in client/operator relationships and in the management of contractors.
- Ability to resolve complex problems and drives innovative solutions and pace.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering principles and practical application.
- Proven ability to interact effectively at all levels and encourage a team ethos across core crew and subcontractors.
- Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy. Carries out duties in a way that maximizes value and minimizes waste and risk.
- Good knowledge of SAP PM or other CMMS.
- Engineering degree
- Professional accredited / Chartered Engineer
- Considerable and extensive knowledge of Engineering technical practices and legislation
- Considerable relevant experience of the oil and gas industry, predominately gained in an engineering and production operations environment.
- Good working knowledge and application of relevant UK oil and gas industry regulations
- Familiarity with quality processes and application of continuous improvement tools is desirable
- Knowledge of all forms of engineering documentation.
- SAP Experience, particularly SAP PM, although other CMMS will be considered.
