Senior / Principal Ecologist – Impact Assessment & Renewables

NES Fircroft is proud to support the continued growth of a leading environmental consultancy with exciting opportunities in the impact assessment and renewables sectors. We’re seeking a Senior or Principal Ecologist (or Team Leader) to join a collaborative and growing team in Sydney or Newcastle.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on a range of diverse environmental projects, supporting both internal and external stakeholders. You'll deliver high-quality ecological assessments, lead field surveys, and mentor junior staff—contributing to meaningful work that supports Australia’s renewable energy and infrastructure future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead ecological surveys and impact assessments across terrestrial ecosystems
• Coordinate fieldwork (flora/fauna, biodiversity, habitat) and produce technical reports
• Apply relevant NSW environmental legislation and BAM accreditation standards
• Provide technical support and mentoring to junior staff

About You:

• Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or related field
• BAM Accredited Assessor
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in consulting or public sector
• Skilled in flora/fauna ID, ArcGIS, ESRI, and ePrimer
• Strong report writing and communication skills
• NSW Driver’s Licence and flexibility for occasional travel
