Job Purpose
A vacancy exists within the Reactors Programme for an Assistant Project Manager. The purpose of the role is to support the safe and effective delivery of multi-disciplinary tasks and projects. The job holder will assist the Project Manager in the development and implementation of decommissioning projects, contributing to successful and compliant project outcomes. ________________________________________
The successful candidate will be expected to produce a variety of project documentation, including reports, specifications, project management documents, Dounreay Modification Reports, and safe systems of work for Reactors projects and facility tasks. Previous experience in the creation of such documents is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to work independently, using initiative to manage or progress work packages and small projects.

Main Responsibilities
• Support the implementation of project management strategies and adapt plans in response to change.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the programme baseline.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to enable safe and timely project delivery.
• Monitor both internal and contractor performance against safety, cost, schedule, and quality criteria. Identify deviations and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare project handover documentation and support the project handover process.
• Manage projects effectively within the constraints of the site’s safety case.
• Identify and report on problems and incidents, determine root causes, and implement solutions.
• Liaise with Works Control Centres to ensure resource availability both short and long term.
• Participate in site emergency exercises as required.
• Fulfil Management Appointment responsibilities relevant to the post.
• Line manage staff as required.

Aptitudes and Experience
• Demonstrable experience within the nuclear or industrial sector.
• Relevant contract management experience.
• Trade, technical, construction, or engineering experience is advantageous.

Qualifications
• HND in Science/Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
