EnvironmentalEnvironmental Lead – Major LNG Construction Project (Mozambique) 📍 Location: Maputo-based, supporting Afungi site operations 📅 Start Date: August 2025 💼 Contract Type: 12 month renewable. We are looking for a highly experienced Environmental Lead to support a major LNG construction project in Mozambique. This is a senior site-based role with oversight of environmental management, permitting, and regulatory compliance in alignment with international standards and lender (IFC) requirements. 🔧 Key Responsibilities: Lead all environmental aspects of the Health, Safety, Security, Sustainability & Environment (HSSE) function. Oversee the development and implementation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA), and Environmental Management Plans (EMP). Ensure timely acquisition of environmental permits, licenses, and approvals, tracking compliance across project phases. Interface with design, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate environmental requirements. Coordinate with EPC and EPCI contractors to review, validate, and monitor environmental deliverables and mitigation plans. Monitor and report on regulatory compliance and performance, including development of tracking tools and dashboards. Support environmental audits, incident response, and lessons learned exercises. ✅ Candidate Profile: University degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 10 years' experience in environmental roles, ideally within large-scale oil & gas or industrial construction projects. Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards and experience working on internationally funded projects. Familiarity with Mozambique’s environmental regulatory framework is an advantage. Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal). Portuguese or French language skills are a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and interface with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
