About the Role
The energy transition is one of the most significant challenges in Europe, with offshore wind energy playing a key role in achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The Netherlands and Germany have committed to expanding their offshore wind capacity significantly by 2030, targeting 22.2 and 30 GW respectively. To help deliver this vision, a large-scale transnational program has been launched to develop and implement multiple 2GW High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) grid connection systems in the North Sea.
We are looking for an experienced Quality Coordinator / Engineer to join a leading offshore wind energy infrastructure initiative. The role focuses on ensuring the quality and compliance of vendor-supplied equipment during the manufacturing phase.

Program Context
This initiative supports the national goal of a 55% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030. The offshore wind target for the Netherlands alone has doubled to 21 GW, expected to supply approximately 16% of the national energy demand and cover nearly 75% of current electricity consumption. Long-term scenarios indicate the need for 38 to 72 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050.
To meet these targets, 14 HVDC grid connection systems—each with a 2GW capacity—are being developed, including both offshore and onshore substations. The goal is to commission all systems by 2031.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate all client-side inspection activities for vendor-supplied packages.
  • Align with EPC contractors on Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) during the manufacturing phase.
  • Ensure inspection compliance, perform risk-based assessments, and participate in audits throughout the supply chain.
  • Review and assess vendor quality documentation to ensure compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor and address non-conformities and track resolutions, especially for critical issues.
  • Ensure implementation of employer quality standards concerning welding, coating, material specs, functionality, and safety interlocks.
  • Work closely with engineering leads to resolve technical quality issues.
  • Coordinate inspection teams and manage quality performance of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Conduct regular site visits across Europe and occasionally outside Europe to monitor fabrication progress and quality assurance.
Required Profile
  • 10 years of experience in QA/QC inspection roles within offshore, oil & gas, renewables, or maritime sectors.
  • Strong understanding of international quality codes and standards (e.g., IEC, ISO, API, ASME, ASTM, AWS, DNV, EN).
  • Proven experience in creating and reviewing QA plans and ITPs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and within teams.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch proficiency is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Europe (approx. once a month).
  • Relevant certifications are a plus:
    • CSWIP 3.2 (Welding Inspection)
    • NACE CIP Level 2 (Coating Inspection)
    • NDT qualifications
    • Low voltage (NEN3140) and high voltage (NEN3840) certifications
    • Experience with HVDC technology
Position Details
  • Flexible work location with primary base in the Netherlands.
  • Contract start: May 2025, with project duration through end of 2028.
  • Travel flexibility including occasional weekend travel required.
  • Competitive rate based on experience.
  • Part of a diverse, international team of ~50 professionals with a flat team structure.
  • Candidates must hold a valid European driver’s license.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted.
