Responsibilities:
- Support the Smart Room and Production Optimization Teams by providing work direction and technical guidance for all chemical improvement investigations.
- Manage all production chemistry matters relating to operations to meet legislative requirements and maintain the integrity of process systems.
- Provide expert advice on chemical treatments and analytical procedures.
- Consistently endeavor to use the best environmental solution to problems, when choosing chemical treatments.
- Recommend and manage cost effective chemical treatments for all processes to ensure the optimisation of production, injection anddisposal targets and chemical costs whilst complying with company safety and environmental policies and legislative regulations.
- Troubleshooting short-term operations problems. Identify and investigate problems, liaising with operations, laboratories, consultants, and vendors. Propose and implement cost effective solutions.
- Propose, design, and manage field trials for short and long-term changes to chemical applications.
- Monitor, analyze and report on all chemical treatments for efficiency, modification, or re-treatment requirements.
- Review laboratory analysis and results. Maintain an initiative-taking approach to process problem-solving.
- Supervise laboratory activities ensuring compliance with procedures, general specifications, company rules and maintain auditable record of activities.
- Support the preparation and review of Chemical Treatment Manuals.
- Support the preparation and review of L3 and L4 Operating Procedures for site laboratories.
- Support the preparation and issue of EEMS reports on production chemical usage and oily water.
- Develop and maintain highly effective and productive relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Support Lead Chemist to ensure audit plans are implemented and maintained.
- Recommend and define specialist technical training for site/offshore personnel to enhance the competency of personnel and contribute to the competency evaluation scheme.
- Coordinate sampling activities and ensure representative samples are taken when required.
- Assist offshore with purchasing of chemicals on a weekly basis to ensure sufficient stocks.
Specific Requirements:
- Honours Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Deep knowledge and experience in Production Chemistry or Chemical Engineering within an oil and gas operations environment.
- Minimal experience in the North Sea zone with a good working knowledge of procedures and operational constraints.
- Recognised specialist in chemical treatment applications and their effects in relation to topside production performance and the integrity of the production facilities.
- Offshore laboratory and sampling experience.
- Expert knowledge of corrosion, scale, hydrate, naphthenate, wax/asphaltene, gas treatment and water injection processes.
