We have a current opportunity for a Buyer on a contract basis. The position will be based in Glasgow.

3 days in the office; 2 days WFH each week

Job Role
  • Work in a cross functional team to coordinate bidders' queries and select the successful supplier.
  • Negotiation with key suppliers for discounts, savings and advantageous terms with selected suppliers.
  • Prepare and organise Procurement meetings.
  • Responsible for Commercial Bid Tabs and commercial recommendations.
  • Prepare and maintain Purchase Orders.
  • Where possible establish Framework/Supplier Agreements
  • Work with the Project team in the management of key suppliers, ensuring performance improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Expedite orders and have the skills at identifying issues and proactively propose solutions.
  • Contribute to the Company's Procurement KPIs.
  • As required, support in the Procurement Manager with contract terminations, claims and disputes.
  • Support the invoice approval process.
  • Conduct a closeout review/score card of the order/supplier's performance.
  • Support the logistic team.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time, in line with company objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to the Health and Safety policies and procedure.
 
Capabilities/Competencies
  • Strong administrative skills and the ability to work with robust procedures and controls.
  • Experience in working in cross functional teams in a project procurement environment.
  • Attention to details throughout the Purchase Order process.
  • Process excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Manage change
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and throughout the business’s internal teams..
  • Proficiency in various ERP systems and the ability to learn new systems as required. Experience in Latis, IFS and Google suits would be an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Adherence to ethical standards in procurement practices and financial transactions.
  • Self-motivated individuals who can demonstrate commitment to set tasks
  • Efficiently managing time to meet project deadlines.
 
  • Enthusiastic with an aspiration to build a career in Procurement.
