Position Objective:
Provide project management for implementation of energy Savings program to meet the requirements established by the Climate leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) calling for targets, goals and several states issued requirements for the reduction of statewide greenhouse gas emission by 85% by 2050, NYS to achieve 185 TBtu of energy saving by 2025. Represent MNR in the MTA-UN Climate agreement and reporting. Analysis support of the MNR Regenerative Braking program.

Employees driving company vehicles must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MNR drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.

Responsibilities:
- Designated Agency Lead for all Energy Savings initiatives -Coordinate and implement energy conservation projects to put the state on a path to reduce statewide greenhouse gas emissions by 85% by 2050. A CLCPA requirement in support of New York State Climate Action Council in developing a scoping plan to achieve 185 TBtu of energy savings by 2025. MNR support in meeting the goals of developing energy conservation projects for 86 MNR locations each with square footage of 5,000 and above. Liaison with Agency Executive sponsor in the coordination, management, budgeting and analysis and reporting on the implementation of semi and annual goals.
Development of location energy reduction initiatives will include:
- Reporting and Benchmarking- reporting is required to assess progress toward statewide energy efficiency targets, and benchmarking to help MNR identify low-performing buildings to prioritize for energy efficiency improvements.
- Energy Audits and Master Planning to identify and prioritize energy efficiency upgrades in the building.
- Capital Project Implementation- Research cost-effective energy efficiency measures on capital projects to realize savings.
- Retro-commissioning- analyze how MNR facilities are operated and maintained and identify initiatives to deliver improved performance.
- Operations and Maintenance- Identify opportunities across all facilities that would provide cost-effective Capital upgrades to achieve annual BuildSmar2025 targets
- Regenerative Braking-monitor MNR work scope to identify the design requirements and supplier responsibilities for the design and implementation of Metro North M7 vehicle traction regeneration algorithm, provide regeneration analysis and report as required.
- Provide Green House Gas reports .
Required Qualifications:
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent working knowledge of Sustainability and the latest developments in energy conservation.
- Excellent working knowledge of ISO 50001 Energy Management System, project management, construction, ISO audits and quality systems, sustainability, budgets, and contracts.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, PeopleSoft, Budget Create , and/or comparable applications.
- Familiarity with rail transportation operations.
- Must be able to work in a high-profile / high-pressure environment, multitask , coordinate multiple departments for task completion , and prioritize assignments as required.
- Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.
- Motivator, self-starter with superior interpersonal people skills.
- Interact with internal/external customers, meeting all deadlines.
- Strong management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines with accuracy.
- Familiarity with MNR and MTA Capital Program procedures and documentation.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Energy/Environmental Management, or Transportation Administration , or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of project management experience, reporting , and variance analysis in an energy/sustainability environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing staff and/or projects .
The following is/are preferred, but other satisfactory combinations of relevant experience, education, and/or technical credentials will be considered:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field with a focus on energy management and sustainability.
- Background experience and training in Rail Transit Maintenance of Way or Operations is preferred.
