About the role

Balfour Beatty is looking for an experienced Document Controller to join our Regional Civils business unit, based in Redcar. This is a key role supporting project delivery by managing and controlling project information from pre-construction through to completion and archiving.

You'll work closely with project teams, subcontractors and external stakeholders, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and managed in line with Balfour Beatty's governance and digital standards.

What you'll be doing
  • Managing and controlling all project document workflows, including registration, storage, distribution and archiving
  • Maintaining internal and external document registers, ensuring alignment and version control
  • Executing document control workflows and transmittal processes using Business Collaborator, SharePoint and other digital platforms
  • Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, clients and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate information exchange
  • Managing confidential records in line with project and company requirements
  • Creating templates and ensuring documentation is correctly formatted and compliant
  • Supporting the compilation, control and submission of Quality and H&S handover documentation
  • Providing reporting and information to support project KPIs, governance and scheduling obligations
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in document control systems and processes
  • Supporting project teams with training and guidance on document control requirements
Who we're looking for

Essential
  • Proven experience in a Document Controller role, ideally within construction, civils or engineering
  • Proficiency in document control systems and digital information management platforms
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office / O365
  • Basic understanding of BIM and digital construction tools
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a project team
Desirable
  • Experience across a variety of project types
  • Knowledge of Business Collaborator or similar EDMS platforms
  • Full UK driving licence
