About The Role

CMDP is looking to strengthen their operations team with a Document Control Apprentice. in the 2026 intake Based at the Chatham office, you will provide general services to the operational team who are currently using, amongst other systems Microsoft SharePoint ® and Bentley ProjectWise ® to store and manage project and non-project documents.

What will you be doing?

You will report directly to the Head of Information Management & Systems, and the responsibilities will include:

  • Attendance at sites across the CMDP geographical region spanning Hampshire, Sussex, Kent & IOW.
  • Review, management and audit of system stored documents for projects.
  • Management of documents within ProjectWise (and other eDMS) in line with best practice standards.
  • Championing of document management processes and systems within the project environment.
  • Understand and adhere to legal, contract, Southern Water and CMDP document & information management requirements.
  • Deal with enquiries efficiently and effectively.
  • Carry out other project and non-project related activities as required.
  • Provide support (where able) to operational teams and suppliers in use of the CMDP systems.
  • Provide basic training for core systems across all internal & external stakeholders - in person, virtual, large/med/small groups & 1:1's.
  • Provide assurance to the Head of Information Management & Systems by ensuring that all records are maintained in line with expectations.
  • Identify and implement areas for improvement and share best practice.

What will I need to be considered?

  • GCSEs for English, Mathematics and Sciences at grade 4 or above.
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Have the ability to travel to the office and sites (some of our sites are difficult to access through public transport) A driving licence would be preferred.
  • Flexibility - Successful candidates will need to be flexible and willing to spend time in other offices and sites.
  • Great communication skills. (Written and Verbal)
  • Self- motivated - attitude is key, it's your career!
  • A team player
