About the role
We are seeking a capable and detail-driven Document Controller to support the delivery of the Peterhead 400kV Substation project in Aberdeenshire. This is a key role spanning both Design & Engineering and Operational Document Control, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant information flow across a major infrastructure scheme.
You will take ownership of the Common Data Environment (CDE), working across multiple platforms including BIM 360 Docs, SharePoint and client systems, enabling efficient collaboration between engineering, site teams, subcontractors and the client.

What you'll be doing
- Manage and maintain the Common Data Environment (CDE) across design and operational phases
- Establish and enforce document control governance in line with project requirements
- Control the flow of information between internal teams, client systems and subcontractors
- Set up and manage BIM 360 (NextGen), including folder structures, permissions and workflows
- Review and process information exchanges, ensuring compliance with agreed standards
- Maintain the Operational Master Document Register, ensuring real-time accuracy
- Support project teams in compiling and issuing project deliverables and reports
- Print and distribute construction drawings where required for site use
- Deliver training, guidance and ongoing support to project stakeholders on BIM 360 usage
- Support BIM 360 quality audits and reporting, including Power BI dashboards
- Promote consistent adoption of digital tools and best practice across the project
Essential:
- Proven experience in Document Control within engineering, construction or infrastructure environments
- Strong understanding of document management processes and information workflows
- Confident stakeholder engagement skills - able to influence and support a wide project team
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider delivery team
- Experience with BIM 360 Docs (or similar CDE platforms)
- Exposure to both Design & Engineering and site-based operational environments
- Understanding of engineering drawings, design office processes and data structures
- Awareness of the utilities, power or construction sectors
- Familiarity with BIM processes and standards (BS1192 / ISO 19650)
