About The Role

CMDP is looking to strengthen their operations team with a Document Controller & systems Trainer. Based at the Chatham office but travelling to sites as needed, you will provide general services to the operational team who are currently using, amongst other systems Microsoft SharePoint ® and Bentley ProjectWise ® to store and manage project and non-project documents.

CMDP is a joint venture between MWH Treatment and Costain and will deliver a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water's water supply and wastewater treatment works across its region (Kent, Hampshire, Sussex and IOW).

The Document Controller & Systems Trainer supports the organisation by ensuring accurate, compliant, well-managed documentation, while also training staff on document management systems and related processes. This hybrid role combines the operational precision of document control with the communication and instructional capability required to train users across the organisation.

You will report directly to the CMDP Head of Information Management & Systems, and the responsibilities will include:

  • In person attendance at sites for Document Control in the Kent area, remote/in person across the CMDP geographical region spanning Hampshire, Sussex, Kent & IOW for systems training.
  • Review, management and audit of system stored documents for projects.
  • Management of documents within ProjectWise (and other eDMS) in line with best practice standards.
  • Championing of document management processes and systems within the project environment.
  • Understand and adhere to legal, contract, Southern Water and CMDP document & information management requirements.
  • Deal with enquiries efficiently and effectively.
  • Carry out other project and non-project related activities as required.
  • Mentorship of early careers members joining the team.
  • Develop, manage & update training materials, guides, quick-reference sheets and system walkthroughs
  • Provide support to operational teams and suppliers in use of the CMDP systems including explanation of permission controls
  • Provide basic training for systems across all internal & external stakeholders - in person, virtual, large/med/small groups & 1:1's.
  • Provide assurance to the Head of Information Management & Systems by ensuring that all records are maintained in line with expectations.
  • Identify and implement areas for improvement and share best practice.

About You

  • Skills/Experience
    • Prior experience in document control or administration with strong organisational and attention-to-detail skills.
    • Excellent IT literacy, including knowledge of document management systems and MS Office. Comfort with change & learning new systems quickly.
    • Ability to deliver clear and engaging training to users with varied technical ability.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to follow structured procedures.
    • Organised with an attention to detail, ability to prioritise own workload, able to work effectively to deadlines.
    • Good interpersonal skills and team worker
    • Attendance at base office in Chatham, Kent.
    • Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and travel to role defined requirements.
