Position Overview:
As a Payroll and Tax assistant, you are responsible for the support of timely and accurate preparation, processing, and disbursement of salaries. The role also assists in statutory liabilities management and relationships with related Government agencies and financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Transactions: Support in maintaining proper records of payroll transactions to guarantee data integrity.
- Timesheet and Overtime Management: Ensure the validity of compensation for field allowances and timesheet is approved and calculated at the appropriate rate.
- Payslips: Preparing and ensuring monthly distribution of payslips.
- Mandated Deductions: Confirming legally mandated and optional deductions.
- Payroll Queries: Addressing queries about payroll-related issues.
- Payroll Information System: Support in updating payroll information by designing systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
- Statutory requirements/Audit: Assist in processing all statutory payments as required by law. Support in statutory filings related to tax and ensures regulatory requirements are met by the Organization. Support in statutory audit exercise and ensure smooth relationship with the external auditors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- First degree in accounting.
- Master’s degree or professional qualification like CITN will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 4 Years’ experience in Payroll Administration
- Understanding of Nigerian Tax Laws and statutory requirements.
- Good communication skills
- Interpersonal and people management skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools
- Competency in payroll software use and management.
