Category Specialist / Buyer

Our client is looking for a Category Specialist to join the dynamic Procurement & Supply Chain team. What You'll Do

• Manage assigned procurement categories (e.g., piping, electrical, mechanical, or services) across major oil & gas and industrial projects.
• Develop and implement category strategies that optimize cost, ensure supply security, and improve vendor performance.
• Lead RFQs, commercial evaluations, negotiations, and contract awards in line with procurement procedures.
• Collaborate closely with project, engineering, and planning teams to forecast demand and align sourcing plans with project schedules.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Monitor market trends, price movements, and risks to proactively manage supply challenges.
• Ensure compliance with all QHSE, contractual, and corporate governance standards.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Instrument / Electrical / Civil Engineering.
• 8-10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in refinery or petrochemical Oil and Gas plant.
• Deep understanding of category management principles, cost drivers, and market dynamics.
• Strong negotiation, commercial, and contract management skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
• High level of attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Middle East / Gulf experience will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
