About the job:

In this interesting role you will be working in our Commercial Team.

Some of the responsibilities include:
  • Adherence to quality, health & Safety, Information security and business continuity policies.
  • Set annual goals and objectives for the department and establish KPIs to measure progress.
  • Set procurement savings targets for each year in consultation with the line manager and ensure that the target is attained.
  • Keep abreast of market supply and demand forces to understand the regulation of prices and availability of goods and services.
  • Identify major procurement opportunities and deliver a series of quick wins that will enhance profitability within the projects undertaken by Al Awalia.
  • Ensure contracts are completed for all relevant agreements and that service level agreements have been agreed.
  • Provide the required guidance to the Head of Purchasing scope of services.
  • Prepare and implement a sourcing strategy for target procurement categories within Al Awalia. Actively engage in vendor negotiations to obtain best possible pricing proposals for quality goods and services.
  • Oversee and manage a supplier and vendor database along with the key information such as contract sum, length of contract, clauses for contract break etc.
  • Develop and manage the tendering process including pre- qualification process, bid documents, advertisement, collection of bids, technical and financial evaluations and shortlisting bidders.
  • Review the specifications and technical requirements for issuing and awarding bids. Oversee the preparation of bid awards and obtain required approvals for the same.
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders (Legal, HSSEQ and Finance department) for contract preparation and review to identify anomalies and risks, if any.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with all the key vendors with a view of developing long term professional relationship.
  • Manage supplier / vendor's performance on a regular basis and initiate actions for improvement.
  • Manage amendments or cancellation of contracts after thorough evaluation of the supplier performance through adequate tools.
  • Intervene and resolve any grievances, claims, conflicts or quality issues with the suppliers, if required.
  • Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier's invoices with the support of Finance department.
  • Arrange site visits, pre-tender meetings and provide clarifications, as and when required.
  • Ensure ethical practices are applied and followed within the Procurement and Contracts department.
  • Periodically present reports to the line manager on operational performance of the department.
  • Oversee adherence to all relevant organizational policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Remain updated on procurement and contract procedures and applicable regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager as per business requirements.

About you:

For you to be successful you will need to have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Manager or any related discipline is required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Manager or any related discipline will be preferred.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • Excellent command of English & Arabic languages is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools.
