Job summary

To work on the in-patient unit (IPU) atWoking and Sam Beare Hospice (WSBH)

To workunder the direction of the IPU manager, Nurse in Charge and as part of amulti-disciplinary team to support patients with all their nutritional needs

Ensures adequatemonitoring of ward consumable stock and rotation of ward consumables.

Responsiblein monitoring and maintaining medication supplies to support safe and effectivepatient care.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for supporting patientsnutritional needs by assisting them with meal choices and serving meals in linewith their dietary requirements.

Report anyobservations/changes to a patients nutritional needs to the Nurse in charge.

To beskilled in communication with patients and staff.

To developand maintain effective relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinaryteam.

To support thedevelopment and implementation of care pathways and patient information.

Develop anautonomous approach within professional practice.

To be aware of theprinciples of infection control in line with Hospice Policy ensuring highstandards of practice in self and others to promote a safe environment forpatient care.

To be responsiblefor own professional actions guided by national, local and organisationalpolicies, protocols, and guidance.

Assist in theprovision of safe, high-quality nutritional care.

Maintain accuraterecords of ward consumable stock orders and supplies received

Assist in theordering of ward stock medicines and clinical consumables in line with hospicepolicies and national medicines management standards.

Maintain accuratestock records using manual and electronic systems to ensure traceability andminimise waste.

Monitoring appropriate temperature monitoring of theclinical room, medication fridge and fridges in the relative room.

Work collaboratively with the Inpatient Unit Manager toensure effective stock control are adequate
