Job Description
Oversees the overall professional and administrative direction of procurement services.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field
Certification in Supply Chain Management preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare setting or pharmacy procurement.
Knowledge of all aspects of drug-use control functions including purchasing, Inventory control, drug storage, drug distribution, drug information, and good storage.
Knowledge of the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) standards.
Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
Oversees the overall professional and administrative direction of procurement services.
Responsibilities
- Maintains confidentiality and objectivity per the ethics of the profession.
- Reviews and checks for accuracy, specification, and need and processes all approved orders and requisitions.
- Verifies all packing slips against purchase orders and forwards to accounts payable.
- Reviews all month-end data to ensure accuracy and forwards to the Pharmacy director for review
- Maintains effective and timely communication with departmental and other hospital staff. Works closely with and supports Pharmacy needs.
- Interfaces directly with accounts payable, in instances where price discrepancies exist, between the purchase order and invoice.
- Ensures effective stock control, verifies inventory computations, determines discrepancies or abnormal consumption, and takes necessary preventive and corrective measures.
- Monitors closely; inventory level, mini-max, stock-outs and critical level products, expedite and follow up shipment deliveries.
- Reports all major or consistent price discrepancies to the Director of Pharmacy.
- Coordinates all product returns with various vendors and the medication handler
- Assists the Director of Pharmacy with market trend studies and cost analysis.
- Prepares and submits reports to the Director of Pharmacy per routine schedules and as needed.
- Assists the Director of Pharmacy with solicitation of bids, review of pertinent data and negotiations.
- Interfaces with the Director of Pharmacy about procurement to establish specifications and needs.
- Communicates with the Director of Pharmacy for pharmacy and other departments with requisitions and orders that are in progress.
- Maintains appropriate records and documentation of activities.
- Performs all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.
- Oversees the storage and distribution by accurate and timely order picking, packing and dispatch.
- Ensure good storage and distribution practices across all operating units.
- Performs all other duties required or assigned.
- Identifies and analyzes the root cause of product supply issues and plans corrective/preventive measures to make sure the product availability or source out alternate as appropriate.
