Job Purpose
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing and executing Project Procurement and Materials Management activities for oil and gas projects. The role provides specialist support to engineering and project teams, ensuring timely procurement of long-lead and critical materials, effective SAP materials management, and full compliance with project, safety, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide procurement and materials management support for ongoing projects, including brownfield and shutdown activities
- Support early project phases by developing procurement strategies and providing budgetary pricing and delivery schedules for long-lead items
- Review and approve contractor procurement and materials management procedures
- Supervise SAP BOM update activities in line with project close-out requirements
- Track and monitor project and shutdown materials to ensure delivery meets project schedules
- Manage surplus materials, spare parts, and specialist materials for projects and shutdowns
- Coordinate procurement of long-lead and critical equipment through the central purchasing function
- Review and approve material reconciliation reports and coordinate inspections with QA/QC, warehouse teams, and contractors
- Act as custodian of the Preferred Vendor List, including vendor pre-qualification and performance monitoring
- Supervise and provide guidance to materials coordinators and support staff

Minimum Qualifications - MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- Proven experience in Oil & Gas project procurement, including long-lead and critical materials, equipment, and package items
- Strong experience in project materials management, including Tag Management Systems, spare parts management, and BOM updates through SAP
- Advanced hands-on experience with SAP Materials systems, including Supply Chain and MM modules
- Sound experience in vendor pre-qualification, evaluation, and vendor management
Knowledge and Experience
- Extensive experience managing materials for brownfield and live operational projects
- Direct involvement in procurement, expediting, logistics, and site material coordination
- Strong understanding of change management practices in project environments
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor procurement and materials teams
Technical and Business Skills
- Project procurement and materials management expertise
- Strong SAP MM module knowledge across procurement, expediting, and logistics
- Vendor management and supply chain governance experience
