Job Introduction

Here at SCS JV, we have an opportunity for a talented individual to join our Procurement and Supply Chain team as Procurement Lead.

Supporting the Head of Procurement and Supply Chain, the Procurement Lead is responsible for the delivery of the Subcontract Procurement and Supply Chain Management functions.

Role Responsibility

Subcontract Procurement:

  • Leading and managing the procurement of subcontract packages to ensure procurement is carried out professionally and in accordance with the SCS Procurement Plan.
  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders (both internal and external) involved in the procurement process ensuring stakeholders are dealt with in a professional, open and collaborative way
  • Overseeing the application of the procurement and supply chain process by the procurement teams, ensuring inclusiveness and diversity of thought to select best for project decisions/solutions and obtain value for money
  • Represent the procurement department at project meetings, presenting information as required
  • Contribute and support all management communication (Dashboards, Board Reports, Portal, News, etc.)
  • Co-ordination, control and management of procurement activities through the procurement schedule to ensure continuity of the works and programme
  • Provide effective communication to report procurement progress to key stakeholders and the project control requirements
  • Contribute to developing individuals within the procurement team providing tailored training as appropriate

Supply Chain Management:
  • Develop and deliver Supply Chain Sustainability to leave a sustainable legacy through the implementation of sustainable, ethical, social value and inclusivity improvements across the SCS supply chain
  • Deliver and further develop on existing frameworks to evaluate and meaningfully engage with subcontractors to improve their performance of environmental sustainability and social value.
  • Investigate opportunities for improvement in the systems and platforms used for sustainability management in the supply chain and collaborate with relevant industry groups.
  • Oversight and Management of Supply Chain Performance through support to the Supply Chain Manager, Performance.
  • Oversight and Management of Supply Chain Assurance through support to the Supply Chain Manager, Assurance.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven track record of delivery as a supply chain or procurement leader
  • Experience of building strong relationships with customers/clients at a senior level
  • Proven collaborative behaviours and experience of delivering an inclusive culture
  • Experience of developing and delivering a responsible procurement strategy aligned to the principles of ISO 20400 sustainable procurement principles
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of developing, implementing, maintaining and improving supplier relationships, performance and sustainability assurance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and robust appreciation of relationship management
  • Achieved or working towards MCIPS accreditation
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work proactively using own initiative
  • Business acumen and good understanding of the construction market

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
