THE TEAM

The Commercial department has a varied mix of work across both the public sector and private clients, predominately in sectors including health, local government, emergency services and social housing. We advise on projects from "cradle to "grave". We design and structure projects. We advise on operational issues. We advise on termination and expiry issues. We also advise on the full range of disputes that can arise out of procurements including procurement disputes, design and construction disputes, operational disputes particularly in relation to payment disputes and fire safety disputes and termination disputes.

THE ROLE

The Corporate and Commercial Litigation Division is looking for a Senior/Principal Associate with 3 or more years' PQE who will be involved in and/or lead commercial disputes, with a particular focus on public procurement and complex contractual disputes. The successful candidate will be expected to have experience of dealing with both of these types of disputes. .

The role involves mainly advising public sector clients in sectors including healthcare, local government, emergency services and social housing. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the public sector and experience of working on matters involving public sector organisations.

Given that the team works nationally, across all offices, this role can be based from any of our London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Winchester or Exeter offices.

SKILL SET

We are looking for someone who:
• has experience of public procurement disputes and complex commercial disputes
• has excellent drafting and communication skills
• has excellent interpersonal skills
• is confident in managing clients, external counsel and experts
• will take early responsibility for handling High Court litigation and all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution
• is able to prioritise work to meet deadlines, and relishes attention to detail

The successful candidate will be both highly motivated and able to contribute to, and facilitate collaborative working across the team, with both contentious and non-contentious colleagues.
