Role Overview

The Procurement Engineer - Electrical / Instrumentation will manage the procurement and material control process for electrical and instrumentation packages. This role ensures timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and equipment, liaising with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to meet project requirements and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive material requirement lists at the start of projects
  • Provide procurement cycle information to planning teams to support development of Materials Schedules
  • Identify and recommend qualified suppliers to ensure competent sources of supply
  • Prepare material purchase requisitions under supervision
  • Obtain quotations from local and international suppliers and negotiate prices where appropriate
  • Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of supplier bids to ensure specifications are met
  • Prepare purchase orders and associated documentation to acquire materials in accordance with project requirements
  • Expedite purchase order progress to ensure materials and vendor documents are delivered to site on or before contractual delivery dates
  • Arrange or carry out technical and quality inspections of supplied materials
  • Liaise with supervisors, internal departments, clients, suppliers, and shippers to ensure efficient receipt of materials
  • Process claims for shortages or compensation for non-conforming materials
  • Control on-site stores, ensuring only authorised personnel can access supplies

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (mandatory)
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a procurement role within oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries
  • Exposure to engineering specifications with the ability to prepare technical specifications
  • Basic accounting and commercial knowledge
  • Familiarity with financial and banking terms and procedures
  • Knowledge of international commercial terms (INCOTERMS)
  • Computer literate
