Play a key role in procuring high quality, value for money goods and services.

Join our highly professional and dynamic Procurement service. Working closely with Senior Procurement Officers and other Procurement Officers, you'll manage projects with values of up to £250K and support senior officers on projects above this value as required.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. You'll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at Halford House or working remotely from home to suit the needs of you and your service. Due to our new ways of working policy, you'll now be expected to work in the office a minimum of two days a week.

What you'll be doing

You'll undertake and be involved in managing, a variety of procurement projects including liaising with service departments, considering procurement strategies/approaches, and planning the procurement process. You'll prepare documentation including evaluation schemes, advertise contracts, undertake market engagement and stimulation, evaluate submissions, as well as conduct negotiations and clarifications. You'll draft correspondence, prepare evaluation reports, debrief unsuccessful bidders, and agree contract documentation. Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and internal clients you'll ensure procurement processes and existing contracts are managed well and continue to deliver value for money. You'll liaise with the team to share best practice and lessons learnt, communicate with the Legal Team on legal matters and meet with suppliers to discuss requirements and performance issues.

What you'll need

With experience of procurement, tendering and contract management processes, you'll have basic knowledge of contract law. Working on multiple projects at the same time, you'll be highly organised, with the ability to prioritise time and objectives effectively. Using strong analytical skills, you'll be able to review information presented within tender responses and evaluations to identify best value. With proficient IT skills, you'll be able to use and manage our state-of-the-art IT tendering systems for advertising contracts. You'll have excellent communication skills to able to present statistical or technical reports and liaise with both internal and external stakeholders. As a strong negotiator with a flexible and willing approach, you'll be able to meet challenging demands.

This role is subject to a Standard DBS check.
