Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF), a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Holding LLC, is a leading provider of engineering, fabrication, and ship repair services for the oil & gas and marine sectors. We are seeking a skilled Procurement Engineer to manage sourcing, vendor coordination, and procurement activities to support ship repair, maintenance, and new build projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Source and procure materials, equipment, and services required for ship repair, maintenance, and new build projects.
• Review and analyze technical specifications to ensure materials meet operational and project requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions.
• Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure long-term business continuity.
• Ensure timely procurement to meet project schedules and operational deadlines.
• Maintain and update Approved Vendor List (AVL) for current and future projects.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain supplier evaluation metrics.
• Coordinate with engineering and technical teams to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
• Ensure all procured items meet quality control, regulatory, and project requirements.
• Manage stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of critical materials.
• Support logistics coordination, including delivery tracking and material availability.
• Handle import/export documentation and customs clearance for international procurement.
• Monitor procurement budgets and ensure adherence to cost limitations.
• Track market trends and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
• Prepare cost estimates for projects and support financial planning activities.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and reports.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, maritime regulations, and international standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and teams to ensure smooth execution of procurement activities.
• Provide technical and logistical support to ensure uninterrupted project operations.
Qualifications & Experience
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of procurement experience in marine, ship repair, oil & gas, or EPC industry.
• Strong knowledge of technical procurement, materials, and equipment used in marine or industrial projects.
• Experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and vendor evaluation.
• Familiarity with international standards and maritime regulations.
• Experience in handling import/export and logistics processes.
• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP or similar) and MS Office.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Fluency in English (mandatory); Arabic is an advantage.
