Senior Direct Buyer – Piping & Bulk Materials

Location: Qatar (project-based)
Contract Type: 12-month agency contract (extendable based on performance and project requirements)

Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Direct Buyer to support procurement activities within a large-scale project environment. The role involves managing the full purchasing cycle for allocated material requisitions, ensuring cost control, timely delivery, and compliance with technical and quality requirements.

You will act as a lead buyer within the procurement task force, coordinating closely with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure successful execution of procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement process for assigned material requisitions
• Develop and recommend bidder lists for allocated procurement packages
• Prepare, issue, and manage enquiries and purchase orders using procurement systems
• Conduct commercial and contractual negotiations through to supplier selection
• Work closely with engineering teams to resolve technical and commercial clarifications
• Ensure purchase orders are issued correctly and accepted without deviation
• Manage scope changes and amendments throughout purchase order execution
• Monitor supplier performance and manage delivery, quality, and contractual compliance
• Identify and recover applicable penalties, liquidated damages, and back charges
• Ensure timely close-out of purchase orders, including vendor performance feedback
• Support procurement reporting and coordination within the wider purchasing function
• Contribute to procurement strategy discussions with senior stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, project procedures, and governance standards

Requirements

• Technical diploma or degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field
• 10–15 years’ experience in procurement roles within oil and gas or large industrial projects
• Strong experience in purchasing piping bulk materials and related equipment
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills
• Experience working with procurement systems and structured purchasing processes
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines
• Detail-oriented, structured, and results-driven approach
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
• Strong problem-solving mindset and commercial awareness
