Reports to: Director, Head of Procurement

Role Purpose:
  • The Senior Manager, Terminal Procurement will serve as a strategic leader, accountable for shaping and executing procurement strategies across terminal and port suppliers in the Middle East region, with strong influence over global and strategic terminal partnerships. This role is critical in driving long-term value creation, embedding ESG principles, leveraging supplier market intelligence, and enabling data-driven decision-making to support Hapag-Lloyd's 2030 Strategy.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, the Senior Manager will lead scenario planning, influence sourcing decisions at the highest levels, and champion innovative, future-ready procurement practices that balance cost optimization, sustainability,
    and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:
  • Category Strategy & Execution - Oversee category strategies for terminals and ports, while directly owning the Global Terminal Portfolio, ensuring alignment with global priorities while tailoring approaches to regional market dynamics.
  • Supplier Relationship Management - Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key suppliers at strategic hubs, fostering innovation, collaboration, and resilience through long-term partnerships.
  • Influence & Alignment - Act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, ensuring procurement strategies are integrated into broader corporate and operational strategies.
  • Analytics & Market Intelligence - Establish robust analytics frameworks and reporting to deliver insights on cost, performance, risk, and sustainability. Regularly update leadership on market conditions, supplier health, and category outlook.
  • Sustainability & Governance - Ensure supplier selection, contracting, and management are aligned with ESG targets and corporate governance standards. Proactively address risks and compliance gaps.
  • Capability building & Change Leadership - Champion best practices, digital adoption, and process modernization across the procurement function. Lead change initiatives to embed new tools, frameworks, and ways of working.

Qualifications

Personal Attributes:
  • Proven track record in senior procurement or strategic sourcing roles, preferably within shipping, logistics, or infrastructure industries.
  • Strong capability in market intelligence, scenario planning, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to engage with senior executives and external partners.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to synthesize complex data into strategic insights and actions.
  • Passion for sustainability and ESG integration in procurement decisions.
  • Collaborative and empowering leadership style, with demonstrated success in developing high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, complex, and international environment.
