Job Introduction

As Procurement Partner, you'll work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, you will lead end-to-end pre-contract procurement activity, manage commercial risk, and ensure value for money across multiple spend categories. You'll also contribute to the development of our Procurement Centre of Excellence, influencing strategy, policy and ways of working.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute procurement professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys shaping outcomes at a strategic level.

As our new Procurement Partner, you will also:
  • Lead end-to-end procurement across allocated indirect (non-IT) categories, owning activity from early engagement through to contract award
  • Develop and deliver category strategies and sourcing plans that drive value for money, support business priorities and manage demand effectively
  • Lead complex commercial and contractual negotiations, balancing risk management with the delivery of strong commercial outcomes
  • Partner closely with senior leaders as a trusted advisor, providing clear, pragmatic procurement and commercial insight to support decision-making
  • Ensure strong governance, compliance and supplier risk management across indirect spend, embedding policy, best practice and continuous improvement
  • Use market insight and supplier intelligence to inform category decisions, identifying innovation opportunities, managing supply risk and strengthening long-term commercial outcomes

We are looking for:
  • Significant experience in strategic sourcing, category management and complex procurement delivery, including high-value and high-risk tenders
  • Strong commercial acumen with deep knowledge of contract law, procurement legislation and risk management
  • Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and deliver value for money, cost savings and risk mitigation
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior leaders and governance forums
  • Strong analytical capability and attention to detail, with confidence working with complex contracts, data and confidential information

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, and we encourage you to apply even if you feel you do not match 100% of the technical requirements. We celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity and strive to create a work environment which ensures everyone can be heard.

In return, we can offer you:
  • Discretionary on-target bonus of 10%. Up to a max 20% based on performance
  • Up-to 11% pension contribution (3% from you, 8% from us - optional additional matched 3% contributions, e.g. 6% from you, 11% from us)
  • 25 days annual leave. Flexible public holidays and option to buy/sell additional leave
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • 6x salary death in service
  • Holistic health and wellbeing support package
  • A truly flexible hybrid-working arrangement
  • A culture that promotes inclusivity, wellbeing and rewards hard work

Who We Are

Medical Protection Society (MPS) is the world's leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of over 350,000 Members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning our Members' premiums are kept safe should our Members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice, or invested into bettering the organisation, our colleagues and our products.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit Members and the wider healthcare professions.

To do this, we need colleagues who are trusted and supported to deliver their best work, whether that be through leadership development, fully-funded training courses or peer-to-peer support. We want our colleagues to feel empowered enough to deliver positive change, display ambition to push themselves and are determined when faced with a challenge, whilst ensuring our Member's best interests are at the core.
