Location: Hybrid working 2 days a week in our Daresbury office.

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £28,489 with potential to rise to £31,655 over 3 years

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Procurement assistant to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

We have a great opportunity for a Procurement Assistant within our Commercial Diagnostic team. The Procurement Assistant will work as an integral member of the category teams, ensuring the procurement processes are managed within identified KPIs. They will support the delivery of the end-to-end procurement process for our customers/stakeholders, working to always deliver a high level of customer service to all stakeholders ensuring that relationships and processes are managed effectively allowing overall targets to be achieved.

Every day you will
  • Support procurement activities by delivering agreed objectives and following established procurement systems, processes, and protocols
  • Collect, analyse, and report on contract performance, market trends, cost drivers, and supplier information to support new and existing contracts
  • Undertake basic contract management activities, including maintaining records, supporting reviews, and contributing to the development of new contracts
  • Prepare accurate reports, documents, and spreadsheets using standard office software, ensuring data is gathered, summarised, and presented clearly
  • Provide effective stakeholder and customer support by coordinating meetings and actions, managing queries, resolving issues, and supporting engagement activities

What skills will help you thrive in this role?
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills, to analyse data, maintain accurate spreadsheets, produce reports, and support procurement and contract management activity
  • Experience working within, or exposure to, a commercial or procurement environment, with an understanding of how contracts, suppliers, and value-for-money considerations support organisational objectives
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen effectively, understand the needs of different audiences, and share information clearly, concisely, and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, contributing to shared goals and adding value through a proactive and supportive approach
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, analysing data from multiple sources, drawing appropriate conclusions, and making well-reasoned recommendations to support decision-making
