Your next role
Contracts, Commissioning and Business Assurance (CCBA) works across the Council's Operations directorate, supporting front-line services to deliver high-quality outcomes for Swindon's residents.
We provide expert procurement support, practical contract management guidance, robust health and safety governance, business assurance and project management. Our work underpins the effective commissioning of services provided directly to residents, making this an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports delivery at pace and helps improve everyday experiences across the borough.
This role supports the delivery of procurement activity across the Council's Operations service area, contributing to the effective procurement of works, goods and services. Working alongside front-line teams across areas such as highways, housing, fleet, waste and environmental services, you will manage procurement activity from request through to award, ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations and Council procedures. The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio of work, including RFQs, ITTs, framework call-offs and further competitions.
Key skills and qualifications:
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role").
The team operates a hybrid working model with all practitioners expected to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.

Key skills and qualifications:
- An interest in procurement and purchasing, with experience gained in a public or private sector environment
- An understanding of procurement principles and the importance of compliance and good governance
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with internal teams
- Willingness to undertake relevant procurement training and work towards a professional procurement qualification
