Department
The Finance Department provides professional and transactional support across the University to support the achievement of its strategic aims. The Department is responsible for providing decision support and advice for management and budget holders both at a corporate level and also for academic faculties and professional service departments.

Finance ensures that funding is in place to support the University's short and long term business requirements, including a planned campus redevelopment programme.

The Procurement Office is a section of the Finance Department, with responsibility for the procurement activity of the University, much of which is devolved to individual departments. The non-pay spend of the University is in excess of £100m per annum.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled procurement category manager to work alongside the Campus West Residential Accommodation (CWRA) project team, as well as supporting the delivery of other procurements. The role will be to build key relationships within the CWRA team, and wider University departments, supporting senior technical and academic colleagues and to deliver end to end sourcing solutions that maximise value and compliance across the projects you are assigned. You will be responsible for devising and implementing procurement strategies for the CWRA project, and other University wide projects, and other procured categories. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a best-practice procurement team with responsibility for the delivery of high profile and high value projects.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
To success in this role you will need:
  • Membership of (or working towards) the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) at Level 6 (Full Member)
  • Significant experience of working in a professional procurement role involving tendering, negotiation and contract management
  • Knowledge of estates and construction related procurement
  • Great organisation skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and handle conflicting priorities.
  • Highly developed relationship management and business partnering skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and co-operatively as part of a senior project team and within a highly professional procurement team environment, and on cross-functional projects
  • Ability to influence senior technical and academic colleagues via effective oral and written communications, including presentations and summaries of complex problems
  • Experience of operating within the constraints of the Procurement Act 2023, the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the wider legislative framework which influences procurement related decision-making and risk management.
