Overview

If you're a Buyer seeking ownership of sourcing and supplier strategy across a multi-site operation, this is a role where your negotiating skills directly shape commercial performance. Our client is a well-established operator in the environmental services and circular economy sector, expanding its procurement function across multiple sites in Great Britain. The scope covers sourcing, tendering, inventory, and supplier performance.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Permanency with real influence over Group procurement strategy
  • Ownership of assigned spend categories: OPEX, consumables, services, and selected CapEx
  • Commercial exposure - negotiating pricing, indexation, SLAs, and contract terms
  • Multi-site, decentralised environment with direct stakeholder access
  • Clear line of sight from sourcing decisions to savings and KPIs

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and procuring goods, materials, and services in line with business requirements
  • Managing purchase orders and ensuring accurate, timely processing
  • Partnering with operational sites to manage stock levels and demand
  • Leading RFx activity, negotiations, supplier evaluation, and contract award
  • Supporting supplier consolidation and regional tendering initiatives
  • Reviewing inventory practices and establishing minimum and critical stock levels
  • Acting as procurement partner to site teams, with on-site presence
  • Improving contract compliance and reducing off-contract spend
  • Monitoring supplier performance and managing commercial relationships
  • Tracking and reporting savings, spend under management, and procurement KPIs

Requirements

  • 4-8 years' experience in procurement or strategic sourcing
  • Background in waste, recycling, utilities, logistics, or manufacturing preferred
  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working across multi-site, decentralised environments
  • Strong analytical capability and an interest in data-driven procurement
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot or GenAI tools beneficial
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; CIPS/NEVI desirable
