Job Title: Senior Contract Engineer

Working Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Contract Type: 1 Year Contract (with possibility of yearly renewal)
Eligibility: Open to Malaysian citizens, Permanent Residents, or valid Relevant Pass/Work Permit holders

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

- Support procurement processes for complex technical contracts in the energy sector, ensuring alignment with company policies and procedures.
- Develop, draft, review, and negotiate contracts, amendments, and related documentation with suppliers and service providers.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (engineering, legal, finance, commercial, and project teams) to capture technical and commercial requirements in contract documents.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle from strategy, tendering, evaluation, award, administration, through to close-out.
- Conduct pre-qualification and evaluation of contractors, including technical and commercial assessment.
- Lead or support tender clarification meetings, negotiations, and contract kick-off meetings.
- Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations, including HSSE, schedule, quality, and reporting requirements.
- Manage variations, claims, and disputes, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
- Contribute to risk identification, mitigation planning, and contractual risk allocation.
- Maintain accurate contract records, documentation, and contract management systems.
- Support audits, governance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives in contract and procurement processes.
- Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and decision-support materials to management.

Requirements

- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
- Significant experience in contract management or procurement within large, complex infrastructure or energy projects.
- Strong understanding of contract law principles, contract structures, and standard forms of contract used in the energy industry.
- Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex contractual terms and conditions.
- Familiarity with sourcing strategies, tendering processes, bid evaluation, and contract award procedures.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Proficiency with standard office software and contract/purchasing systems.

Work Schedule

- Based in Kuala Lumpur office.
- Standard full-time working hours; occasional extended hours may be required depending on project needs.
