JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Field Engineer / Bit Runner to support critical drilling operations by overseeing bit runs, monitoring drilling performance, and providing real-time technical guidance. This is a hands-on field role where you'll work closely with drilling crews, operators, and internal sales teams to optimize drilling performance and deliver high-quality technical reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with Operator Representatives, drilling crews, directional drillers, and geologists before and during drilling operations
• Monitor drill bit and BHA performance in real time and advise on optimal drilling parameters
• Perform hydraulics calculations and simulations before and during drilling
• Inspect drill bits and prepare nozzles prior to running in hole
• Support drill-out procedures for cement and casing equipment
• Conduct Drill-Off Tests and analyze WOB, RPM, torque, and ROP relationships
• Identify and manage downhole vibration modes (axial, lateral, torsional) using surface and downhole data
• Interpret real-time e-log and drilling data
• Perform full dull grading of drill bits and BHA components upon retrieval
• Prepare detailed post-run reports including photos, charts, and survey data
• Recommend future bit selections based on dull condition and performance
• Ensure accurate entry of drilling data and images into BitTrak and Image Manager
• Provide daily written drilling summaries to Operator Representatives and Sales Engineers
• Participate in post-run debriefs, sharing lessons learned and recommendations
• Support onshore office and warehouse activities when required

What We're Looking For

• Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification preferred
  
  (Extensive industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
• 1-2 years of relevant oilfield or drilling experience preferred
• Solid understanding of drill bits, drilling dynamics, and downhole tools
• Ability to interpret drilling data and make real-time operational decisions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working independently in the field and under operational pressure
• Willingness to travel and work in demanding environments
