CCL Global are currently recruiting for a Piping Material & Stress Engineer  for an FEED & Detail Design project in the UK. The successful candidate will be the referent for the piping and layout disciplines of the Central Processing Facility, contribute as a key technical referent for piping stress, vibration, and piping materials within the CPF package, You will contribute to ensuring the compliance of the Central Processing Facility EPSCC contract piping detailed engineering activities with approved SOR and Company standards.

 

Location: London (South)

Type of Contract: 24 months

 

 Key duties will include:

  • To adopt & demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regard to HSSE requirements. To contribute to the effective implementation of the Project HSSE policy and commitment.
  • To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regard to the Company Ethics and "Code of Conduct" policy and to promote and enforce the Corporate Anti-Corruption Program within the project team.
  • To provide specialized technical input and support to the PVV discipline team for CPF piping matters
  • To support the PVV Lead in overseeing EPC Contractors' performance in piping stress, vibration (FIV/AIV), materials, and layout engineering disciplines: ensuring timely delivery and review of Contractor's engineering documents, studies, and queries through an efficient technical coordination scheme with the Contractors, ensuring full compliance with the project scope and specifications.
  • To perform detailed review and validation of FIV and AIV studies performed by EPSCC Contractor and Suppliers
  • To ensure adequate and timely reporting to the Piping/Layout lead engineer on progress and concerns, and in a general manner, anticipates problems, proposes potential optimizations, improvements and solutions with regards to his/her disciplines
  • To liaise and interface actively with other CPF discipline specialists regarding the disciplines-related matters and on all engineering, procurement, constructability, operability and maintainability matters, to ensure consistency of the work.
  • Review and approve piping material specifications, valve data sheets, and material requisitions in line with project scope and specifications.
  • Provide in-depth technical support for material selection involving metallic, nonmetallic (such as, but not limited to GRE, HDPE) piping systems. Deep understanding of GRE piping specific design considerations, stress analysis methods, and installation requirements, including thermal expansion, joint integrity, and support spacing.
  • To be Experienced with other exotic materials or clad piping (if applicable to CPF-2) and their impact on stress analysis.
  • To review and negotiate with the EPSCC and equipment vendors to ensure piping stress designs meet vendor limits, and to critically assess any proposed deviations or reinforcements.
  • Rigorously interpret CAESAR II output reports, identifying potential calculation errors, non-conformances, and assessing the validity of underlying assumptions used by the EPSCC Contractor.
  • Critically review and validate the EPSCC Contractor's complex dynamic analysis methodologies, including natural frequency analysis, spectrum analysis (seismic) and time history analysis (blast/water hammer).
  • Ensure strict adherence to FIV/AIV guidelines (Energy Institute, GS ECP 103, GS PVV 107) during review, specifically challenging any simplified assessments where a detailed study is technically warranted and required by specifications.
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, and procurement teams to resolve material-related queries.
  • Participate in material selection and corrosion review sessions to ensure suitable materials for service conditions
  • Support construction and field teams in resolving material deviations and substitution requests

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (material/metallurgical, mechanical engineering or related field)
  • 10-15 years in Oil and Gas projects as piping Lead/Sr piping stress engineer, Lead/Sr piping materials engineer
  • Previous experience with international Engineering EPC Contractors on projects of similar scale
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards related to his/her disciplines
  • Knowledge of global industry standards related to his/her disciplines
  • Advanced user of CAESAR II (for model review, independent checks, and detailed report analysis)
  • Familiarity with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for reviewing specialist reports
  • Proficiency in 3D model review tools (e.g., Navisworks Manage) for clash detection, constructability, and support placement assessment from a stress perspective.
