The Opportunity

KBR work across a diverse group of projects and clients with ongoing engagements with various sectors and geographies. The focus of this role is to support the Strategy, Policy and Economics team through the development of high‑quality business cases, economic and financial assessments, and investment frameworks for clients in water, defence, transport, energy and other emerging sectors.

This role will involve supporting the development of business cases and investment frameworks contributing to strategic and economic analyses, financial and investment appraisal, options assessment and clear, decision‑ready written advice.

Influencing at various levels you will have direct impact on local communities and the future of Australian infrastructure. Collaborating with partners throughout engineering, environmental, sustainability and innovation you will successfully develop and deliver expert advice. The diverse nature of this role will see you adapt your knowledge and skills to suit each client and their specific requirements.

Who are you?

It is a key requirement that you are an Australian citizen due to the nature of our projects. You will have a background in consulting, government, economics or a related field, with experience supporting policy, strategy, or investment decision-making in the private or public sector.

Your technical and business writing skills will be central to your success, particularly in drafting business cases, options analysis, and executive‑level advice. You will also have strong analytical capability and the ability to communicate complex policy, economic or financial concepts clearly to a broad range of stakeholders.

The key skills required for this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Business case writing (including strategic, economic, financial and commercial cases)
  • Economic appraisal and cost-benefit analysis
  • Supporting financial analysis and investment evaluation
  • Addressing investment assurance frameworks
  • Policy advice and economic reasoning
  • Multi-criteria analysis and options assessment
  • Risk and assurance strategies
  • Stakeholder engagement and consultation
  • Infrastructure planning and delivery advice

Experience applying quantitative or analytical skills, and translating analysis into clear written recommendations, will be highly regarded.
