About us:

Payroll & Pensions Services at King's College London is a critical function within Financial Services, responsible for delivering accurate, timely and compliant payroll to a large and diverse workforce. Each month, the team ensures that over 11,000 staff are paid correctly, while administering complex pension arrangements across multiple schemes, including NHS, USS and SAUL.

Working closely with HR, Finance and departments across the university, the team plays a key role in maintaining data integrity, supporting colleagues, and continuously improving processes to meet the needs of a dynamic and complex organisation. About the role:

The role holder will need to be resilient, adaptable, positive and customer-centric in everything they do. Managing multiple projects including Work Force Management, using King's Agile Working tool. You will overcome challenges to deliver an end-to-end implementation of defined projects primarily focused on payroll processes and transformation of payroll technologies. There will also be a line of reporting directly to the Payroll Management team.

You will be required to develop and maintain agreed project plans, design and deploy the procedure which the business intends to use to complete payroll, managing all project or change activities. You will coordinate the resources planning and identify capacity constraints to support the delivery of the plan and take corrective action where necessary.

This is a full time role (35 hrs per week ), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until July 2028

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria
  1. Excellent payroll knowledge - to include statutory family friendly leave, tax calculations, RTI, Pension and GL requirements
  2. Proven experience of HR & Payroll system configuration
  3. Experience of testing e.g. automatic patches, functional testing scenario-based testing
  4. Experience of process mapping
  5. Excellent communication skills
  6. Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audience
  7. Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence, motivate and build rapport with others
  8. Innovative and proactive approach to work and professional development
  9. Exceptional time management skills and the ability manage priorities and conflicting deadlines
  10. Understanding of GDPR Legislation


Desirable criteria
  1. Knowledge of Work Force Management systems e.g. Rostering, Online Timesheets,
  2. Previous experience and knowledge of PeopleXD (Core HR)
  3. CIPP qualified
