The Project Engineer, Minor Modifications role is a key position responsible for managing minor modification projects that support operational goals. This role reports directly to the Project Engineering Supervisor and ensures that the portfolio of projects aligns with the overall objectives of the business unit (BU).

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance:
  • Adhere to and promote the company’s HSE management system.
  • Prioritize HSE issues, ensuring compliance with corporate safety standards and expectations.
  • Project Scoping and Development:
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and develop problems or opportunities into minor modification projects.
  • Work with the Planner/Scheduler to schedule and incorporate projects into the integrated plan.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage projects from initiation to close-out, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Follow the company’s Minor Modifications Project (MMP) process to execute each project effectively.
  • Engineering Coordination:
  • Work with internal engineering teams or external contractors to produce the required engineering deliverables for each project.
  • Coordinate activities related to engineering, construction, and project changes.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Promote team culture by fostering knowledge sharing and development within the team.
  • Manage competing project demands and allocate resources efficiently across a portfolio of multiple projects.
  • Engineering Deliverables:
  • Produce and review key engineering deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Line Designation Tables (LDTs), etc.
 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A recognized degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineering designation (EGBC and APEGA).
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience, particularly in Conventional Oil & Gas, SAGD, or Heavy Oil operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, culturally diverse environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time, unrestricted basis.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and independently seek solutions through expert engagement.
  • Proven experience in managing stakeholders and building consensus across different organizational functions.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to delivering results.
