Position Summary

We are seeking a Generator Engineer who will work out of our Milwaukee, WI office. This role is responsible for Engineering activities in support of power generator service, repair and electrical testing work. The Generator Engineer I will work under close supervision of other engineers. In addition, the role works closely engineers, shop operations, field operations and project management personnel to execute customer service projects.

This position will involve all aspects of generator service including evaluation of generators, or generator components, as well as prescribing or development of repairs needed to return them to serviceable condition. Hands on work, in support of project execution and in close cooperation with other company operations and customers, are expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participates with other departments and engineers in service / repair discussions in support of proposals or work execution

  • Assists other engineers in representing technical matters to customers

  • Provides support to the team working through challenges under the direction of other engineers

  • Supports bidding and proposals
  • Learn risk assessment from more senior engineers and apply methodology to daily work process
  • Acts as a technical resource for Toshiba's base technical and commercial offering

Electrical Engineering

  • Review of customers request for quotation to determine Toshiba's technical ability based on established Toshiba's capabilities
  • Apply existing inspection & test work scopes (or assist in creating new scopes) and direct data collection as needed to perform condition assessment or diagnose equipment problems
  • Evaluate data by applying existing or industry acceptance criteria
  • Design of parts and repairs
  • Identify materials used in utility generators and application of acceptable substitutes in accordance to established
  • Generation of engineering final reports.
  • Assist Toshiba purchasing in researching vendors in the technical review of qualification and capabilities

Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including experience in procedure and process documentation and technical report writing.

  • Ability to deliver technical presentations to customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of document management concepts and computer based document management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high voltage/ current AC and DC equipment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project 2000
  • Familiarity with and application of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design, MathCAD and COSMOS-M (finite element program) analysis

The employee must able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Requires ability to work in an office environment as well within a manufacturing shop environment where exposed to extreme temperatures and exposed to higher notice levels.
