EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Western Region, developing and executing on short-term and long-term HSE plans to improve safety performance and culture in the region.
- Cultivate and coordinate open lines of communications with operational leadership and the HSE Team.
- Effectively interface and collaborate with operations management and leadership to uphold NOV's HSE standards, including initiating stop work and corrective action when warranted.
- Track and report to leadership on safety performance, objectives, and targets for the region.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and NOV Global HSE Policy.
- Communicates new environmental, occupational safety, health laws, and regulations.
- Work with and support Western Region Operations Managers and Western Region Vice President in the implementation and maintenance of HSE processes and programs, including the EPS Global HSE Management System.
- Conducts risk assessments and creates proposals for preventative measures and identifies safe methods of work.
- Establish and lead initiatives to share best practices and lessons learned.
- Provide day-to-day oversight of Western Region HSE Team, ensuring their activities align with organizational objectives and HSE policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with the Senior HSE Manager and HSE Director to align HSE priorities with business unit objectives and ensure consistency in HSE practices.
- Conduct site visits and audits to assess HSE performance, collaborating with facility Leadership and HSE Specialists to identify improvement opportunities and ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulations.
- Ensure workplace incidents are managed in a professional and timely manner to include investigations, identification of root causes, development of effective corrective actions, lessons learned, and best management practices.
- Ensure that all required Environmental reporting is completed as required and by established timelines.
- Develop and implement training programs to address high risk activities and technical gaps in the region, including leading training sessions.
- Implement regular training and development programs for the Western Region HSE Team to enhance their HSE skills, knowledge, and competencies in HSE management practices.
- Oversee the professional development and performance management of HSE professionals assigned as direct reports.
- Frequently travel to locations within the Western Region - approximately 40% travel required.
- Completes other tasks as requested by the Sr. Manager HSE
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental or similar field preferred.
- Experience Auditing in relation to ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
- 10+ years of direct HSE experience.
- ASP, CSP, or CSHO certification preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior per NOV Corporate policies.
- Proficient computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience working in oil & gas, chemical, and/or manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and communicate, State, and local safety and environmental regulations.
