Lead Engineer, Topside Floating System
Brief Job Purpose
Responsible for the design, integration, and operational performance of the topside facilities on floating production units (e.g., FPSOs, FLNGs) in deepwater oil and gas projects. This includes overseeing the design and integration of processing systems, utilities, and safety systems on the floating platform. The role ensures that all topside systems are optimized for operational efficiency, safety, and reliability under challenging offshore conditions. The Lead Engineer leads a multidisciplinary team, working closely with other engineering disciplines, to ensure that topside systems meet project specifications, regulatory standards, and are seamlessly integrated with subsea infrastructure and floating hull systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities & Key Objectives
Design & Integration: Lead the design, engineering, and integration of topside facilities with floating systems, ensuring all systems meet operational requirements and industry standards.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and oversight to the engineering team, guiding them through the design, installation, and operational phases of topside systems.
System Optimization: Ensure that all systems are optimized for performance, cost, and safety, working closely with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, etc.).
Project Management: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of topside engineering activities, ensuring that milestones are achieved on schedule and within budget.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs and operations comply with relevant industry regulations and safety standards.
Risk Management: Identify and manage risks related to topside systems, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including subsea, structural, and project management teams, to ensure the integration of systems across all phases of the project.
Commissioning & Handover: Oversee the commissioning of topside systems, ensuring smooth transition from construction to operation, and ensure readiness for handover to operations teams.

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional certifications or chartership (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is a plus.

Experience
Min. 25 years of experience in topside engineering, with significant experience in deepwater offshore projects (FPSO, FLNG, etc.).
Proven track record of leading topside design, integration, and optimization in complex offshore environments.
Experience in project management and overseeing cross-functional teams.

Specific Competencies Required
Familiarity with offshore operations, including commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of topside systems. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of topside engineering, including process systems, utilities, accommodation, and safety systems for floating units.
Project Management: Strong skills in managing complex engineering projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Safety & Compliance: In-depth understanding of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry codes applicable to offshore topside systems.
Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve technical challenges and optimize systems.
Communication & Leadership: Strong leadership abilities, with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Risk Management: Ability to identify risks and implement effective risk mitigation strategies throughout the design and operational phases.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in engineering software and tools used for topside design and analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant, AVEVA, etc.).
