Job Description
We are adding to our generation team and you could be our next team member! Are you someone with a background in Engineering? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!
The purpose of this position is to monitor the construction, operation, maintenance, and related business activities of all Wabash Valley Power generating resources and to assist in the development of an overall power supply plan for Wabash Valley Power.
In this role you will:
- Involved in monitoring and coordinating all aspects of electric generating resources including construction, operation, and maintenance activities for Wabash Valley Power Alliance facilities.
- Participates in the engineering design, budgeting, procurement, and construction management for WVPA wholly owned generation resource projects.
- Participates in generating plant acquisition activities through contract development, direct negotiations, regulatory processes, permitting and procurement of fuel supply and other services.
- Communicates with plant operations, fuel suppliers, and market-interface entities to ensure all generation resource costs, operating availability, fuel supply and equipment or environmental limitations are considered in hourly, day ahead and longer-term scheduling strategies.
- Prepares data and reports to support Executive Management, the WVPA Board, budget activities, and various regulatory agencies.
- Assists with invoicing activities, contract administration, budgeting and forecasting efforts related to power generation.
- Monitors marketplace trends, pricing, and regulations related to power production. Serves as liaison with other divisions as needed.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, required.
- Experience with either power production, utility management, and/or plant operations desired; Prior electric industry experience, highly preferred.
- PE or PMP license, or the ability to obtain such designation, preferred.

- Problem solving ability: Able to apply systems thinking to generate solutions; focuses on process rather than isolated events; obtains multiple assessments of a situation and identifies trouble spots; evaluates alternative solutions.
- Effective communication skills: Able to clearly present information through the spoken or written word; reads and interprets moderately complex information; conveys information effectively; listens well.
- Influence and persuasion ability: Able to convince others in both positive and negative circumstances; uses tact when expressing ideas or opinions; presents new ideas to authority figures; responds to objections successfully.
