Are you a Telecom Engineer with experience in offshore projects? We're looking for a skilled professional to design, develop, and manage telecommunication systems for a major project, ensuring compliance with international and local regulations.
Role Overview
As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering design, system integration, vendor management, and technical issue resolution within the telecom discipline. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer, project teams, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Project Engineering & Design
- Understand and implement the design philosophy of the project, ensuring compliance with client specifications and statutory regulations.
- Prepare engineering deliverables, such as block diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Conduct reviews of vendor designs, ensuring technical and delivery requirements are met.
- Participate in technical meetings with vendors to finalize system design and resolve third-party interface issues.
✅ Procurement & Vendor Management
- Develop RFQs for telecommunication packages, including technical specifications.
- Evaluate bids from suppliers, ensuring suitability for offshore installations and alignment with project schedules.
- Monitor vendor performance and provide technical guidance for telecom-related systems.
✅ Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with MODEC HSSEQ policies, industry codes, and safety regulations.
- Capture lessons learned to improve future system designs.
- Maintain strong documentation and facilitate effective communication between stakeholders.
✅ Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams, attending site visits when required.
- Assist in resolving technical issues that may impact project timelines.
- Escalate major project risks to the Lead Engineer and Project Engineering Manager.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Telecom or Electronics Engineering with 5+ years in the offshore industry OR
- Professional Diploma in Telecom or Electronics Engineering with 7+ years in the offshore industry.
- Hands-on experience in Telecommunication, Navigation, and Safety Systems within the marine/offshore sector.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of telecom system design, procurement, and vendor coordination.
- Experience working with RFQs, system block diagrams, and specifications.
- Ability to evaluate vendor bids, lead technical discussions, and manage telecom packages.
- Understanding of safety and regulatory compliance in offshore installations.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
