Senior Engineer, Sustainability

Purpose

The Sustainability Engineer will be responsible for preparing sustainability deliverables, managing assigned scopes of work, and assisting in research and development tasks. The role involves supporting corporate and project teams in sustainability initiatives, improving design standards, and implementing technical solutions for emissions reduction and decarbonization.

Key Responsibilities

Sustainability Implementation & Strategy

• Collect and categorize Lessons Learned and Life Cycle Value Improvement ideas, coordinating with different disciplines to update and enhance design standards.
• Assist in proposing, conducting, and participating in studies on emerging technologies related to sustainability, including GHG emission calculation, decarbonization, and alternative fuels such as ammonia.
• Support strategic planning for new Modec business initiatives, including offshore wind farms.
• Assist in implementing sustainability programs as required by client specifications or classification notations during project bidding, FEED, and EPCI stages.

Research & Development Support

• Assist lead engineers in managing research topics from Modec entities and external collaborators, such as universities, research institutes, and consultants.
• Support specialists from the Core Team (Technical Expert Group) in resolving critical issues in EPC projects or offshore fleet operations.
• Monitor progress of sustainability R&D initiatives and report findings to the lead engineer.

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

• Independently engage with stakeholders, including consultants, classification bodies, clients, and internal engineering teams.
• Arrange and lead discussions on sustainability topics in regular meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and provide progress reports.

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Master's degree holders require a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• PhD holders can apply with no prior experience.
• Diploma holders must have at least 8 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience:

• Background in the oil and gas sector.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices, emissions reduction strategies, and alternative energy solutions.
• Experience in research, strategy planning, or technology studies related to environmental sustainability.
