Senior Engineer, Marine Package

Role Purpose

The Senior Engineer, Marine Package is responsible for preparing fundamental engineering deliverables for hull process systems in offshore facilities or crude carriers. The role ensures compliance with technical requirements, timelines, and budgets while proactively identifying and resolving recurring engineering issues.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Engineering & Design Development

  • Interpret and apply project-specific specifications, industry standards, classification society, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop key engineering deliverables including:
  • Design philosophies and engineering specifications
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) & Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Equipment sizing and datasheets
  • Heat and material balance calculations
  • Process simulation basis, set point lists, utility summaries, and safe charts

 

  • Perform preliminary PSV set pressure, line sizing, and settle-out calculations based on design limitations and alarm set points.
  • Conduct technical verification of vendor data (e.g., scrubber level settings, strainer pressure drops) to ensure compliance with design requirements.

    2. Stakeholder Coordination & Technical Support

    • Participate in safety meetings, explain process systems, and address observations and recommendations.
    • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and offshore phases, troubleshooting and rectifying issues as needed.
    • Engage with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and classification societies to review documents and resolve interface or execution issues.
    • Support technical bid evaluations and ensure vendor selection aligns with engineering and delivery requirements.

    3. Engineering Validation & Continuous Improvement

    • Verify General Arrangement (GA) drawings, identifying discrepancies in vessel and exchanger nozzle allocations.
    • Develop and review process-related studies, philosophies, and technical reports.
    • Capture and document lessons learned within the company's Management Information System (MIMS) and implement continuous improvements.

     

    Qualifications & Experience

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or related field).
    • 7+ years of experience in process engineering for hull systems in offshore facilities or crude carriers within shipbuilding.
    • Master's degree holders: Minimum 6 years of experience.

     

  • 1-2 years of experience in a shipyard environment.

    Software Competencies

    • Process Simulation Tools (e.g., UNISIM Design or equivalent).
    • Hydraulic & Piping System Analysis (e.g., Flowmaster, Pipenet).
    • AVEVA Engineering.
    • MS Office Suite (including VISIO).
