Context & Environment

The OneTech Segment's mission is to provide the technological and scientific expertise necessary to support development projects and provide support to the operations of all TotalEnergies activities (oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables and electricity) worldwide. Its 3,400 employees, including engineers, technicians, researchers and support functions, spread across 9 sites in Europe are fully invested in achieving TotalEnergie's ambition to be a major player in the energy transition, to get to net zero by 2050.

Join our teams in the Customer Lines, Technical Lines, R&D Lines and Support functions who accompany all operational branches in their development projects and in support to their operations.

Activities

Within OneTech, our entity is dedicated to conducting laboratory and on-site measurements to characterize the fluids and rocks of all the company's reservoirs. For fluid characterization, we carry out synthesis and interpretation work in the fields of Thermodynamics and Organic Geochemistry.

Within the Thermodynamics team, we are looking for a senior petroleum engineer specialized in thermodynamics, whose role will be to:

Perform thermodynamic studies:
  • Interpret laboratory PVT measurements and sampling data to quantify the representativeness of the samples.
  • Recommend an appropriate measurement program for the type of fluid and the study's objectives.
  • Compile and synthesize available static data: geological context, petroleum system, pressure, temperature; and dynamic data: production data, well test, PLT, etc.
  • Perform fluid modeling for use in reservoir models, well models, or process simulators.
  • Evaluate the uncertainties associated with the provided results.
  • Manage studies as a project manager.

Provide thermodynamic spot expertise:
  • Perform expert assessments in the fields of fluid acquisition, PVT measurements, and thermodynamic modeling.
  • Ensure the link between reservoir, petroleum architecture, and flow assurance from a fluid perspective.

Acquisition and sampling recommendations:
  • Recommend acquisition techniques to operating or non-operating subsidiaries to minimize fluid property uncertainties based on the objective.
  • Assist subsidiaries during well operations to optimize fluid sampling with the fluid acquisition specialist.

Develop the entity's know-how: Contribute to the technical development and working methods ; transfer thermodynamic expertise through training provided to the geosciences community.

HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment): Apply current HSE guidelines and contribute to the improvement of HSE conditions within the entity.

Participation in R&D programs (fluid component) and Innovation.

Candidate Profile

This position is for you if:

• You have relevant knowledge in petroleum engineering (monitoring, reservoir management, fluid acquisition, and field development).

• You also possess good knowledge of the mechanisms of hydrocarbon generation and migration as well as petroleum geology.

• You have an engineering, scientific, and/or 2G&R background with a specialization in fluid thermodynamics.

• You communicate well: verbally and in writing, particularly in English, and French is a plus. • You are curious, meticulous, have a strong critical mind, and a passion for technology.
