About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Senior / Engineer, Automation to support the successful execution of control and safety system engineering across large-scale energy projects. The role involves the design, integration, and implementation of Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS) while ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety protocols, and project objectives.
The successful candidate will work within a highly skilled project team, providing engineering expertise from concept to commissioning to ensure the seamless delivery of advanced control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Engineering & Documentation
- Develop ICSS specifications, drawings, and data sheets aligned with project requirements.
- Ensure ICSS system design meets safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Prepare ICSS topology and control interface philosophies for key package integrations (Mechanical, Electrical, Telecom, Onshore Control).
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and other safety studies, ensuring recommendations are implemented.
Vendor & Procurement Support
- Evaluate vendor proposals, conducting technical bid assessments to ensure compliance with project needs.
- Engage with suppliers during factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs), ensuring system integrity and functionality.
- Conduct supplier visits to verify quality control and compliance with engineering specifications.
Project Execution & Commissioning
- Oversee ICSS engineering execution, ensuring alignment with project schedules and milestones.
- Provide troubleshooting and support during construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, procurement, and site engineers, to resolve technical challenges.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify efficiency improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and innovative engineering methodologies.
- Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated into ongoing and future projects.
HSSEQ & Compliance
- Adhere to health, safety, security, environmental, and quality (HSSEQ) policies, ensuring a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and corporate governance policies.
Ideal Candidate Profile
✅ Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Control Systems, or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in ICSS engineering within the oil & gas sector.
- Strong understanding of ICSS architectures, control philosophies, and system integration.
✅ Technical Expertise:
- Experience reviewing P&IDs for control-related details.
- Proficiency in safety system design, including SIL assessments, cause & effect diagrams, and SRS development.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, Navisworks Freedom, Visio, and basic AVEVA Engineering.
