Wood is recruiting for an Intermediate Pipeline Engineer to join its Oil & Gas business. This opportunity is hybrid, based in Calgary, AB.

#LI-Hybrid

This position will lead to advancement to a Senior or Lead Pipeline Engineer, working within the Oil and Gas industry, primarily on above-ground (SAGD) pipelines. The Intermediate Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for producing pipeline documents, performing design calculations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role includes technical leadership, coordination with procurement teams, and identification of cost optimization opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Produce pipeline documents and collaborate with others to generate technical drawings
- Prepare pipeline design calculations, including wall thickness and bending
- Develop pipeline design reports and provide input into engineering specifications, standards, and procedures
- Complete Material Take Offs (MTOs) and prepare associated Material Requisitions
- Coordinate procurement bids and conduct technical bid evaluations
- Identify optimization and operating cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure construction and field modifications meet applicable codes, standards, and regulations
- Prepare project designs, Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) cost estimates, and project schedules
- Provide technical advice on design processes and construction methods
- Participate in the development of new engineering methods and short/long-term planning
- Supervise complex engineering tasks related to major projects
- Provide technical leadership to teams of professional and non-professional staff

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience related to pipelines, with increasing responsibilities in a multi-discipline environment
- Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
- Familiarity with engineering standards relevant to the Oil & Gas pipeline industry, including ASME, API, and CSA
- Awareness of Alberta OH&S Code requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment with professionals from various disciplines
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and work independently
- Strong technical writing and oral communication skills in English
- Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
