Wood is recruiting for a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join its Oil & Gas business. This opportunity is hybrid, based in Calgary, AB, with consideration for candidates in Edmonton, AB, or Sarnia, ON.

The Role
This position will focus on engineering support for buried and above-ground pipelines within the oil and gas sector. The Senior Pipeline Engineer will provide technical expertise, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role includes pipeline design, material selection, cost optimization, and technical leadership to support major projects in Canada's oil sands and energy transition initiatives, such as CO2 and hydrogen pipelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide input to pipeline documents and drawings
- Perform pipeline design calculations, including wall thickness, buoyancy, and bending analysis
- Prepare pipeline design reports covering routing, valve spacing, and material selection
- Contribute to engineering specifications, standards, and procedures
- Complete Material Take Offs (MTOs) and prepare associated Material Requisitions
- Coordinate procurement bids and conduct technical bid evaluations
- Identify optimization and operating cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure construction and field modifications comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
- Provide technical guidance on project designs, cost estimates, and economic justifications
- Support short- and long-term engineering planning and innovation initiatives

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering preferred)
- 5-10 years of experience with cross-country buried or above-ground pipelines
- Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
- Familiarity with engineering standards relevant to the Oil & Gas pipeline industry, including CSA, ASME, API, and Alberta Pipeline Rules
- Recent Western Canadian pipeline experience
- Strong technical knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment while collaborating with various disciplines
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and work independently
- Strong technical writing and oral communication skills in English
- Comfortable working in a hybrid (office and home) environment
- Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
